Who inspects you
- Alameda County Environmental Health Department, Body Art Program · Alameda County except the City of Berkeley (Oakland, Fremont)Stricter than the state on records. The county's body art ordinance (O-2008-52, General Ordinance Code ch. 6.116) has the shop keep each client's record for 3 years after any procedure, with the dates, the consent forms, the name, age and current address off a picture ID, the type of procedure, and "The name and registration number of the Practitioner performing the procedure" (§ 6.116.140(B)). The shop also keeps "A complete list or inventory of instruments, body jewelry, sharps, and inks or pigments used or available for use on site for all procedures including the names of manufacturers, serial and lot numbers. Invoices or orders shall satisfy this requirement." (§ 6.116.140(C)). Neither the ordinance nor the state's Act puts a lot number or an expiration date on the client's own record in so many words. The county says its ordinance and the Act both apply, everywhere in the county but the City of Berkeley. The source
