Your shop can text every client who's visited: the thank-you, the touch-up check-in, the review ask and your offers, from its own number. Under Marketing in your dashboard, each one you turn on has its own switch for texting, right under it. Once that switch is on, each client who has opted in for texting gets it by text, and everyone else gets it by email, as before.
Which clients get a text?
A client opts in for texting on your waiver form by ticking one of its 2 optional boxes and giving a mobile number, and each text goes by its own box:
- The box that says your shop "can text or email me after today about my aftercare and how my healing is going." The Thank-you + aftercare and the Touch-up check-in go by this one.
- The box that says your shop "can text or email me its news, offers and events." Ask for a Google review, Not back in a year, and the Piercing and Tattoo offers go by this one.
Everyone else gets the email, as before: a client with no mobile number, a client who didn't tick that box, and a client who signed before your form had these 2 boxes. A client who has opted in for texting but has no working email gets the text alone. A client who unsubscribes from your emails gets no texts either.
Keep another waiver system? Let me know and I'll set up texting with the system your clients sign with now.
The thank-you's text carries a link to your aftercare sheet, since a text can't carry the sheet itself.
What number does it come from?
Your shop's own local number. It comes with your registration for texting. When a client replies, the reply comes to you by email, and you answer them from your own phone.
When can a text go out?
Only from 8am to 9pm on your shop's clock, and inside your state's own hours where it sets them. Some states also close a whole day, like Sunday or a legal holiday, and no text goes out that day. Your state's page lists its rules, and every state's texting hours in one table are on the blog.
A client gets at most 1 text a day from your shop. A text that comes due outside the hours waits, and goes once they open. The thank-you goes right after a client signs, so a client who signs outside the hours gets the email, with the aftercare sheet attached.
What does a text cost?
1.5 cents from your texting balance for each part of a text. A short text is 1 part, and a long one is 2 or more. The Text words box on each email's page in your dashboard shows the parts and the price as you type, and you can write the text in your own words there.
When your shop is approved for texting, there is $5 on your balance to start. If the balance runs out, the client gets the email instead.
How does a client stop the texts?
Every text ends with "Reply STOP to opt out." A client who replies STOP gets no more texts from your shop, and their emails keep coming. If they text START later, their texts turn back on. You can also turn a client's texts off yourself, on their page in your dashboard.
When does it start?
Nothing goes out by text until your shop is registered for texting and approved. Texting comes with Pro, and until your shop is approved, everything you turned on for texting still goes out by email. Registering your shop for texting says what it takes.
